Cancelling insurance after cool off period

Doh!
I took advantage of a barclaycard offer (yes I know), of free health cover for two months and have forgotten to cancel it.
I should have cancelled it by the 14th, and according to the documents supplied I'm now tied in for two years!
Now my question is,
Do I Call the insurance company (AXA)and try to cancel anyway, running the risk of being unable to.
OR..
seeing as the payment is being taken from my credit card, which is almost completely paid off, just cancel the credit card so they can't get the payments.
Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.
