ESA support vs work related group...

Or by reconsideration or appealing
You say he "won his appeal".... The question here is did he go to a tribunal to get that win Her Majestys Courts and Tribunal Service?
Or did he get a letter from his Benefit centre saying "we have looked at our decision again and changed the decision to WRAG...?
If he went to tribunal he is very unlikely to be able to get that decision changed to Support Group.
If he just got a reconsideration letter from DWP, then he can appeal the letter/decision to place him in WRAG, and go to tribunal to get Support Group.
It was indeed a physical tribunal service..
But he didn't understand the difference between Support group and Work-Related..0 -
Hi guys,
I'm concerned that with him being on ESA WRG, he will no longer get the amount of HB needed to continue living where he is, as per the letter he received in OP.
The letter advises that he needs to be in receipt of ESA SG or DLA to continue the level of payments he's receiving.
He is immobile to the extent that he cannot walk over 100m, nor sit for longer than 10mins without experiencing excruciating pain. He has several trapped nerves, sciatica, osteoscelrosis,a degenerating spinal condition (forgive me as I don't know the full details and it's difficult to summarise). - In any case, he's screwed and has been for a couple of years - all medical practitioners (some of which are the UKs best) have told him this.
If I understand it correctly, he cannot simply "change" benefit - However, can he apply as a brand new applicant for a new benefit (i.e. DLA)?
Thanks,

ESA contributory is available to those who have been switched from IB and to those who on making a fresh claim have sufficient NI contributions. It lasts for one year in the WRAG and indefinitely in the support group.redskyatnight wrote: »Sorry to be rude and ignorant, but how and why is what you get in ESA linked to your NI contributions? Is this if you are going on it from not being on any benefit??? Rather than going on it from incapacity benefit?
Thank you

Yes you're right. I'm ahead of myself.
It's being piloted in a few new areas. Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

It depends if he lives in one of the areas that Richard 9991 quoted, if he does then he can try and claim PIP, if he doesn't then it would still be DLA. I assume as he is affected by the benefit cap now he lives in London?"You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0 -
Yes, you're correct, he lives in London.
II have no idea what dla is? Is it a benefit itself or a sort of social fund thing?0
