Selling Old Books

Are there any websites that are guaranteed to buy your books off you for a fixed price? The same way that mazumamobile does for phones and musicmagpie does for CDs and DVDs. I found one in US cash4books.net but I can't find any UK ones, just wondered if anyone knew of one?

I know they may not sell for as much as if they were in an auction but I've got a whole load of books (mostly fiction, not textbooks) I just want to get rid of quickly and at least get something for them even if it's not very much!

Take a look at Green Metropolis - it makes selling/buying books easy and helps charities. You get £3 for every book you sell:

    I used this site:
    http://www.webuybooks.co.uk/

They are very pick with what they want though. Most popular fiction appears to be a no go and that seems to be the same on http://zapper.co.uk/ Worth a try though.

I've had about 30 books listed on Green Metropolis for almost 2 months and I haven't sold one yet.
    Starting mortgage balance 22/04/2013 £71,250
    Overpayments to date £410
    Current mortgage balance £70,650

Just tried putting in a few nice hardbacked books into the webuybooks one, and they didn't want any of them :(

Depending on where in the UK you are, there's a fantastic second hand bookshop called Barter Books. It's in Alnwick in Northumberland. It's in an old train station. They buy all kinds of second hand books! Plus it's fantastic just to go and wander round!

    Hi

    Try amazon:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/b/ref=sv_b_8?ie=UTF8&node=1766559031

You trade in your books for amazon gift cards. Not sure if this is any help to you.
I got there - I'm debt free and intend to stay that way. If I haven't got the cash, it doesn't get bought. It's as simple as that.

I have loads of literature criticism to get rid off. However, the home page says 'books with few notes'.

    Mine are well-annotated, unfortunately.

Bear in mind as a seller you pay the postage.

If they're old and well annotated... you'd probably make more money turning them into a papier mache bowl and selling that :)

Which is now likely to be £2.60 as a small packet, so once you have bought wrapping, even at 10p a go it seems hardly worth storing them.
