I work on boilers I haven't worked on before every day ( there are over 14,000 different models).. the principles are the same.. it's a joy to find something new..0

Have had BG and local fitters service our boilers over the years and had good and bad experiences with both. Some BG guys are utterly useless as per the OP's post. Equally there are some local ones who's answer to everything is... "we cant fix that, you need a new boiler", in which case get a second opinion...
Overall a good local RGI beats BG hands down, but just because they are local does not always mean they are good;).0 -
Thanks for the responses! There is one excellent Gas-Safe man who is local and reasonable. (And another who is a scammer.)
British Gas sent another man out the following day who, to his credit, fixed everything and has it all working again.
A supervisor telephoned and will be coming over on Friday morning to have a chat with us and a look at the boiler. He says he's very concerned about the leak caused by the first engineer.0
