Barclaycard

Does anyone know if you can use a different credit card to pay the minimum on barclaycard?

I know this is inadvisable so please don't tell me how ridiculous this is but I need to make a payment and I won't have any money clear into my bank account until Thursday and I am going out of the country for a week on T.
I put in the 'debit card' number and it says I have entered it incorrectly and I tried a euro card too (it works kind of like a debit card as I use it in pets at home and tescos etc) but again - same error.

Is this an issue with their system or is there somewhere that says you cannot pay with a CC?

THanks :)

  • Sounds like you want to do a balance transfer, Most cards will allow this but will usually make a charge of 2%-3% for the privilege. Contact your "donor" card call centre. It may take a few days to process.

If you want to pay with a CC, you'll need to do a BT, which will incur a fee. But that may not count as a minimum payment - you'll need to check with them.

Ahh buggar. I tried to do a balance transfer but it said I had no offers available. I will try and call them tomorrow and see what I can do.

Another option, not to be entered into lightly, would be to withdraw some cash from card #2 at an ATM and use this to pay the Barclaycard. Only do this if all else fails and if you are absolutely sure of being able to repay everything soon.

It allows two cards to be registered - although it may restrict payment from more than one card in a short space

Euro cards and other nonsense will not work - only debit cards and faster payments

You need to arrange the transfer with the other credit card that you are transferring to,not Barclaycard. Whilst the transfer processes you will need to keep up minimum repayments on the Barclaycard. As has been said you will incur a fee for transferring, so if you've problems repaying, this isn't the way to go about resolving resolving them.

Well I was lucky enough for my cheque to clear this evening! (speedy service by Santander I must say since I only paid it in on Wednesday and the 2 bank holidays would have delayed it!)

So I didn't have to do anything with my other CC as I paid the minimum with my debit card as I normally do. Setting up a direct debit now as it's much easier!

Thanks for all the advice guys :)
