PS3 and BBC i player

When trying to access BC i player through my PS3 I was prompted to download updated software. I did this and switched off when all was complete. When rebooting I was prompted to download again and afterwards got the message "a later version is already installed, there is no need to install this version. My only option is to press "back" which takes me out of i player. When going back into i player I am then invited to download the same software, with the same result. I am in some sort of loop. Can anyone help me please?
