How to make a Software CD autorun?

Hi,

I have some software on a CD . When I use this CD in a drive it automatically loads/runs itself to install the software.

I made a copy of this CD (can't remember what I used but some CD burner). The files have all copied over seemingly identically to the original disc but when I insert the copy it does NOT automatically load/run and won't install.

Please does anyone know if there is a way to make the copy autorun?

Many thx.

    1. Make sure you have closed the CD when burning (ie finalised it)
    2. Make sure there is an autorun.inf file in the root folder of the cd
    3. Make sure the filename specified within autorun.inf exists and the path (if any) is correct.
  • Hi Krisdorey,

Many thx for your reply. Pls can you tell me how I do the things you have suggested as I'm afraid I'm not au fait enough to understand this.

I could try making another copy of the disc from scratch if I know what I should be doing to make it work.

    Thx again.

think my old nero did it in 1 step. the process listed here is a 2 step copy, first converting the cd to iso and 2, converting the iso back to cd.

It will not work with every cd or dvd in existence, but will copy most.
