Economy 7 usage as a %????

Options
I've just tried to use the 'Cheap Energy Club' on this site but Have hit a hurdle, I am on a Economy 7 meter for my electric and its asking me for my usage as a %, how do I find this out? And when it comes to my KWH usage per yr do I add together the day & night figures?, ie my day usage was 1922 and night 519, so do I enter 2441?? Help please, I left the % as the average and entered 2441 but it came out that on my current tariff I spent £4k something per yr, £338 per month, which I know isn't right?? Please please please help if you know. And I think :money:is a god, lol. -x-

Add them together and enter the total as a yearly kWh figure. Your night rate percentage then is 20% of the total....that would be 488 at night..you could try changing yor electric usage to use more at night and try putting in 25% (610 at night) and see what savings you could make by doing that. As your night rate percentage is low also try comparing standard rates by choosing that you do not have an E7 meter. You will need to ring the supplier and ask if you can combine the meter readings and be charged the same for all units. You may also want to consider a meter change if the savings are quite high and the supplier does not combine readings.

  • Oh right I get it so its what percentage of your total electric you use at night, 20% being the closest to what I actually use, well why didn't they just say, lol. Thanks very much for that though appreciate it, I will now go back and try again. Thanks for the extra tips too. -x-:)

Your night rate percentage is 21%. But if you have E7 with an immersion heater and night storage heaters, these figures can't be your annual ones. they're far too low. Your total usage is 2,441kWh; that's less than the average house with gas CH and DHW uses (3,400kWh) annually. Are these maybe your last quarterly readings?
But at 21% it's most unlikely that E7 makes sense for you.
I think you are entering your annual usage as monthly if you are getting £338 per month!

Wow, is it really that low?

We are all electric, and March usage was 1950.96kWh.

Do you know the average for all electric homes?

I'm surprised it pays at 21%. Luckily ours is 75% E7 usage, so no question as to whether it pays or not. :D

The average could be anything. Maybe a 2 bed flat around 10,000kWh a year. It's hard to get an accurate figure as most all electric properties tend be small flats. Households also tend to be low income and use the heating less to save money. The larger homes that are electric only and do not have piped gas tend to have solid fuel, LPG or oil for heating and E7 electricity is used for hot water especially in summer when it's cheaper to just turn the boiler off for 6 months and use an E7 immersion heater.

But the OP was quoting 5,441kWh as (presumably) an annual total. Yours is one (winter) month. Quite normal.
