Pay at Pump in France

Hi, Does anyone know if any UK issued credit or debit cards work in pay-at-pump petrol stations in France? Thanks IB

Barter is so right.
We live in France.
Motorway stations are manned and take visa cards 24hrs.
Supermarket petrol stations are manned morning and evening 6 days a week, close for lunch and bank holidays. 99% take UK chip/pin cards.
When closed most stations accept FRENCH MASTERCARD ONLY in automatic pump.
However, some take cash, not many, and if you hang around a Frenchman may put petrol in using his card if you give him cash.
