I currently own a property/mortgage.

I want to buy a new property and was wondering if the new mortgage lender would find out about my existing mortgage/property when doing credit checks etc. i would prefer to tell them i was a first time buyer.

Nobody on here would advise you how to commit mortgage fraud anyway, but... yes, of course they will be able to find out! Credit checks are precisely that - to check what credit you have, and how creditworthy you are.

Of what benefit is it being a FTB?

Actually wondering if it's a wind-up... hmmm. Maybe I'm just feeling cynical today lol.

I reckon him and the gf are renting, looking to buy. But he's got a secret wife and kids tucked away in Kidderminster.
  • Yes, as mentioned it would come up immediately when the mortgage company run the credit checks
