Any room for negotiation when part exchanging?

Hi all,
Firstly, sorry! I'm new to house selling / buying, so I'm going to probably ask lots of daft questions and questions which have been asked before.
Looking at part-exchange as an option, but wanted to get some advice on whether there's much room for negotiation on asking price of property to be purchased. Is a cheeky ask the done thing? Would we just be laughed out of town?
Alas, the development we're looking at has only just been released, so it's not as though they're down to the last few houses.
Thanks for any thoughts!

normally, no
The developers don't want their properties to show up on LR details as sold for less than the AP.
So with PX the only negotianting point that you usually have is the valuation of your property (and it's not unknown for them to take a loss on that)0 -
What's the harm in trying?0

When dealing with a developer you can be as cheeky as you like, they can only say no. Although I agree with Tim, they will want to keep the sale price high for the LR, otherwise buyers after you will use that price to negotiate.
The figure you want to look at is 'cost to change', which is the difference you have to pay, that's all that matters.0
