Hi
I'm moving house in 2 weeks, I'm currently on single rate electricity, moving to a dual fuel property.
I don't yet know who the current supplier is or if the new place has E7.
What is the best thing to do in terms of finding a supplier?
Should I wait move in go with the current supplier then switch in a few months when I have a couple of bills or switch on the day we move (once i know if we have E7).

Ask the existing occupants who the supplier(s) are, and whether or not it is E7 (as this is obviously causing you some great concern).
They will be your suppliers, at least initially.
Don't forget to call them on completion day to give meter readings and set up accounts0 -
We have been told by the letting agents we won't find out the current supplier etc till our check in.
I'm one of those people who likes to get everything in order as soon as possible.
Just wondering really what everyone else might do.0 -
Just take readings and sign up on the day, you can then commence a switch if you wish. Nothing else you need tot do before you take up occupation. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

You can call a phone number to find out who the supplier is. http://www.which.co.uk/switch/faqs/preparing-to-switch-faqs/how-can-i-find-out-who-my-current-energy-supplier-is0

...been told by the Letting Agents we won't find out our supplier till check-in ? ! ?
Look carefully at the lease document which you hopefully haven't signed yet, and check it for a clause by which you agree to be supplied by Spark Energy
If it's there, web search Spark to see exactly what you are taking on0 -
And, if that clause is there, strike it out.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

It's normal not to find out until moving in though surely. The current tenants could have chosen any supplier. How would the LA know?Sealed Pot Challenge #239

Nothing to do with the agents. The utilities accounts are the concern of the tenants. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

no there isnt any such clause just says we can change if we want just have to let the agents know who the supplier is.0 -

In deed they are, but in my experience the letting agents always ask who the supplier and for a forwarding address so that when you move out they can also tell the supplier you've moved so the agent/landlord doesn't get stuck with the bill.
both my current agent and landlady know who supplies our energy.0
