I have been working in an area i dont usually cover, and I reckon i have hit upon at least 6 eco 7 meters today which have been recorded reversed for the last few years ( my computer does nt accept the readings I imput correctly ) when its the fault of meter readers ( our lot, g4s routinely put the readings in wrong ) and the suppliers, they will try and back bill you if they can. If you stick to your guns they will back down and scrub the catch up bill. I have seen as much as 2k scrubbed in the past.0

What do you mean by "sticking to guns"? Denying to pay, getting advise from ombudsman, court action...?
Thanks for replies again.0 -
In the past Bgas have just sent a catch up bill ( if there is money owing ) without any explanation. Our computers show the two readings to imput like this 1-low/night....... and 2 normal/day. Our thicko meter readers take this to mean ANY meter which shows 1 , gos to night field and 2 into the day field. Most of the modern digital meters now show 1 as the day reading, they default to show the reading in progress . They seem to think that British Gas ( and scot power and edf ) can sort it out at their end.. They dont, computers auto bill. Its a ludicrous state of affairs. We are all using the exact same computor programme throughout the country.
By sticking to your guns, I mean refuse to pay the catchup bill. Tell them THEY, their meter readers and their billing system have messed up and its not your fault. you dont mention which supplier you are with, but G4S are good at messing up on eco 7 meters. I have spoken to a few meter readers about this and they say if they put them in the correct way round, the HHC "gos out of tolerance " suggesting we have made a mistake, so put them in reversed instead0 -
I've noticed #sacsquacco helping out before in this state of affairs
to other members.
From other places I've learnt:5. Back Billing
Suppliers have signed on to the Back Billing
Principles. Each and every back billing case will be
assessed on an individual basis by your supplier.
5.1
If your supplier is at fault, they will not seek additional
payment for unbilled energy accrued more than one year
prior to the bill being issued.
I hope there is nothing behind it and as it says, it always is going only 12moths back...
[I've seen someone complaining that utility company made exemption from this rule because client was paying by monthly direct debit] :-O
I wonder how in practice is going to look refusing to pay "catch up bill"
Thanks for your fruitful posts!0
