Hi all,

I need some help please.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 Lap Top bought in 2009 and running Windows Vista. (only started using it in the last 6 months).

I keep getting the message on screen ' Your WLAN card has stopped working properly, contact your manufacturer to see if an updated version is available'

I have searched the support on the Dell website but it is all double-dutch to me and I don't know what to do:o:o

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.:)

Either do a system restore to the point before your driver stoped working or go to Dell and update your drivers

Sorry can't post links so follow these steps

    1 Go to Dell.com
    2 Find support
    3 Find Drivers
4 State your model ie Inspiron 1525
5 Download or update drivers (your choice)

Or put 'Dell Inspiron 1525 Lap wireless lan driver' in Google and it is the third on down that takes you straight to the Dell drivers you want (Shows third on my page)

Uninstall it via Device Manger, reboot, and let it detect the card and reinstall the drivers again.

I would think about upgrading that machine to Windows 7 and at the same time removing any Bloatware.
I similarly updated a friend's machine. It went smoothly and runs a lot better.

I'll guide you through the upgrade if you choose to do so.

Thanks but that is the same page I perused for a couple of hours before asking for help on here. It did not seem to be relevant to windows vista users.

    Before you start uninstalling stuff

    Go to Start
    Into Control panel
Click on device manager (if you can't see it click on classic view on the left and you will)
    Give yourself permission to continue

On device manager find Network adaptors and click on the little plus to the left of it

Find the offending adaptor on the dropdown that appears (may have a red cross or yellow triiangle next to it)

Right click on the adaptor and left click on properties. You may see a message telling you the device is disabled - in which case click on enable .

See if that works first :)

The easiest way to get it to re-install is to uninstall it (which it sounds like you've already done) and then reboot.
Or there's an option to "Scan for new hardware" (or words to that effect) in one of the menus at the top.

Any posts are my opinion and only that. Please read at your own risk.

I already told you that in post 4-reboot and Windows will then detect the 'new' hardware.
