in Credit cards
Hi! I want to pay off a couple of my credit cards in full. I haven't had any missed or late payments but I was hoping I might get a bit of a discount for paying them off!! Has anyone tried this? ... More importantly, did you get any money off?!!
Thanks in advance!!:)

Until you default on your payments, no credit card company will accept any less than 100% of the amount owed. Why would they? You spent the money, so they expect it back unfortunately. Odd concept, I know.0

You have no idea how many people come on here and ask the same question and the answer is always the same as in post 2.
Unless you want to stop paying them altogether for a few months, trash your credit, then you might get a discount. But you wouldn't get credit again anywhere for a number of years
I suppose, in a way, you are getting a (hidden) discount, because if you pay it off early think of all the interest you won't have to pay in the future.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Your 'discount' will be the lack of interest you'll be paying the credit card companies each month!
Unfortunately they're not going to pat you on the back for paying back the money that you owe them0 -
You've got no chance of a discount in your present situation and if you are in a position to pay the cards off why haven't you done so already? Every day that you delay just increases the interest you are being charged.0

Discount for what lol?
You spent the money and you have to pay it back...
You can't go into a shop and get a TV that's worth £600 for £400 can you? unless there is a actual discount :P
but there isn't no discounts on credit cards.0 -
Is this a serious post?0

Not tried £600 for £400, but I got a TV that was advertised in the store for £999 for £800. At first they would only knock £50 off the advertised price, but after accepting the additional insurance option, offering to pay with a debit card instead of credit card and going to walk out of the door, they finally agreed to sell it for £800.
Needless to say, I cancelled the insurance as soon as I received the paperwork.0 -
pay what you owe, move on0
