Loch Lomond is over rated , once you have driven round theres nothing to do excpet outlet shops. Go to Callander , it has a river where you can wander and feed the ducks and small kids play area . Drive further to see the nearby lochs too. Blair drummond is very expensive.
Stirling has soft play type places , and nearby you can have a climb up Wallace Monument.
  • If you want to go to the outlet shops at loch lomond you need to go to Balloch. There's a sea life centre there too. Callander is ok, but it's just full of touristy shops, Crieff is closer and is pretty much the same.

Obviously posted by someone who knows nothing about Loch Lomond. :naughty:

If you are staying In Auchterarder then a visit to Macrosty park in Crieff would be fun for the kids.

I second Macrosty Park. The problem with this area is that you have to travel so far from one place to the next although the scenery is stunning. If you are going in school holidays there may be events laid on for the kids - try the Perth and Kinross council website. Stirling Castle would be fun but I don't know how much it costs. The Fife coast, St. Andrews, etc. is not far away so take a kite (and a scarf!).

Stirling castle is good , but about £13 per adult,I was there at weekend, it might not be worth the money for such young kids tho, the smith museum stirling is free and has kiddie friendly dress up area, and drawing corner, they will like the giant man in suit of armour, they have a garden with child things to jump around on etc, then nearby kingspark has a good play area!

Thanks for all your ideas :)
We walked up to the wallace monument last time we visited but it was closed by the time we got there, it was still worth the walk though, stunning views and there were loads of squirrels that kept the boys entertained.

Can't wait to go now :)
    wouldn't it be nice if i won : car/cash/family holiday :)

    :j I am a winner! :j

Thank You to all who post and who make this a great site!

My friend and I took her then 6 year old to Noah's Ark at Perth last summer and she had a blast (so did we). It's just off Broxden roundabout so nice and easy to get to from Auchterarder.

may be worth getting a local newspaper when you arrive to see if there are any special offers.

The website below looks like it has quite a few suggestions too

Whenever I go up to Perth I park at Broxden Park and Ride and get the bus into town. I'm sure the kids get for free and the service is frequent.
