Problem with Scottish Power

Options
I was a Scottish Power customer until July 2011 when I switched to Eon. The MPAN number and meter serial number was transferred correctly and MPAS have confirmed that these are the correct details for my address, and that EON are my supplier. Scottish Power have also confirmed that this account was closed correctly with no outstanding balance.
The issue I have is that I then received a bill addressed to the occupier at my address with a different MPAN number, from Scottish Power. On contacting them I was told that it was an erroneous transfer and they would sort it out (how can it be when it had the wrong MPAN number?) and I would hear no more about it.
I heard no more until a debt collector turned up to serve a notice of intent to obtain a warrant of entry. I have been in contact with Scottish Power who have said that they need to investigate.
Even though I have been given a named contact I am unable to speak to the same person twice and have to explain the issue again and again, usually with the person saying it's my debt and I need to pay it until I ask for the supervisor.
MPAS have confirmed that this second MPAN number belongs to one of my neighbours and that it's an internal mistake at Scottish Power.
Does anyone have any idea how long this is gonna take to sort out?
Currently Scottish Power are saying that they need to amend tha national database to show this second MPAN number belongs to my house, can they do this? I only have one meter and I'm not on a split tariff so should only have one MPAN

Forget the phone - As you have found, Customer Service Desk staff are useless with this type of problem, and as for their reply that they will sort the problem by registering this rogue meter to your address on the National Data Base - The mind boggles.

You must WRITE to SP, heading the letter Complaint
List as best you can the phone conversations you've had and the name of the person you can never get hold of, pointing out that the situation is causing you considerable stress and expense, for which you expect to be compensated

You say the bill was addressed to 'the occupier'

Who is the debt collector intending 'to serve a notice of intent to obtain a warrant of entry' upon?
  • I got a letter in from Scottish Power last week saying that they will put £150 in my meter for free, all I had to do was take my key down to the local shop and that was it. Must say I was pretty chuffed !

I know it was really nothing to do with this post but just getting it in anyway !
