I did also complain at the end of the conversation and said that I was offended by her manner and tone and suggests she speaks to her manager for some training!
Manners and being polite cost nothing!
No wonder you haven't had any money, this is not exactly the way to win friends and influence people.
You should be entitled to JSA CONTS regardless of your living arrangements.0 -

With all due respect, this was at the end of the conversation and why shouldn't I voice my views after the way I was spoken to?
I had her on loud speaker as I was on hold for so long and was making a drink / doing the dishes etc.. whilst on hold and I had a friend over at the time, who heard both sides of the conversation, my friend sat there agog during the phone call and afterwards said that they wouldn't have kept their cool like I did if they had been spoken to like that, especially as it was completely unwarranted.
They work in a service industry and I myself have worked in call centres when I was younger and you should never speak to people they way she spoke to me, even if I had provoked her (which I hadn't)
Thank you, I hope I do get something from them, and soon!0 -
Go to your local Citizens Advice bureau and talk to them,. It costs nothing, and they are able to ring people direct instead of going through call centres and know the questions to ask. They will be able to advise you on all of these issues.0

As 'midnight express' says, as long as you have made enough NI contributions in the past few years, you should be entitled to 6 months of JSA before anyone starts asking questions about your finances or living arrangements.0

Thank you, I have worked without gaps for 21 years, so hopefully have enough contributions.0 -

Thank you, |I got a phone call today from a chap to say that he will come and see me Tuesday. He sounded quite nice and friendly, so hopefully will takes my situation as he finds it.
Do you know how long it takes from the visit to getting any payment? I will be signing on for the 3rd time next week, I assume they will back-date it if all approved?? I am sooooo skint.
I have two interviews next week too, let's hope something positive happens and soon!0 -
A compliance visit is a visit by a member of DWP to confirm your current situation.
From what you say, it doesn't sound like you would be considered LTAHAW (Living together as husband and wife) but the DWP often visit LTAHAW cases before releasing payment.
They will want to see all the things you have posted about, your financial situation, do you socialise together, do others see you as a couple, do you cook for each other, buy food together etc. It's a judgement call at the end of the day but if everything is as you have said it is, then you should be fine.
Also, Crisis Loans have not been abolished but rather, they are dealt with at a local level by your local unitary council or county council. You should be able to contact them to make an application.I currently manage a Housing Benefit service and have been working in Housing / council tax benefit (as was) since 2001.
