An amalgamation of the Midshires Building Society (Wolverhampton Permanent) and somone else. It was sometime back

They were absorbed into Halifax Building Society who were subsequently absorbed in to Bank of Scotland.

Would be surprised if there is any value attaching but good luck.

The BM PIBS were replaced by Halifax perpetual subordinated bonds in 1998/9 when the takeover occurred. So you would need to check that a replacement certificate was received, and what happened to it, i.e. have the replacement bonds been sold? If the bonds have been sold then the certificate that you have is of no value (unless as a curio).

All of which means that the PSBs are now issues of Lloyds Banking Group since the takeover of HBOS
