Just got a new tablet and wondering if needs a virus protection software? (tablet is android type).
is it essential? or will it just slow down tablet processing?
if i do install one do i need to uninstall all software and factor reset the device before installing to ensure device is "clean" from any bugs?
which is better AVG or AVAST for free virus software?

I've got a tablet and haven't got any anti virus installed and not had any issues so far. If I were to use 1 I'd use avast.0

i use avast, but don't it is needed though. As for slowing down the tablet, i can't say i noticed any difference before and after installing.Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0

I have 3 devices.
One uses Avast free, another uses AVG free and the third uses Norton paid for (£5 for 2 years, on a deal).
All have proved efficient in that I have experienced no problems, but that still might be the case if I had no anti-virus at all.
All of them require more processing time as there is a scanning phase added to the download process but it's insignificant.
Boot times might be slower, but it's hard to say whether that is due to virus checking or that I have a large number of apps installed.
Overall I'd say better safe than sorry. Install one of the free offerings and live with the few seconds of processing time.0
