Buying things for school

Ive just paid £195 for my son to go on his school trip.In the juniors at my primary they go away during summer term.First overnight then final year for a week increasingly more expensive.Dont pay your child doesnt go simple as.Some centres are government funded so cost is then less for those on school dinners.
I'm a single parent. When my youngest bakes we send in all cooking ingredients.Teachers found it easier this way than asking parents for money.
My primary does lots of fund raising recently they had a raffle and asked for contributions to gift baskets. This is expected your frowned upon not to gift so I always gift asap the easiest cheapest thing.
I'm happy to pay the little I can afford if it means my children to have everything they need for their education.I'd be appalled not to.
Day trips are subsidised.Says contribution is voluntary but we are pressurised into paying by asking why we havent.Ive 4 kids on the one occasion I couldnt pay I was told I must pay at a later date. Now as I regulary contribute and didnt have money for milk that day I was upset.Sometimes when you have children all wanting money at once the cookie has to crumble. As a parent I go without alot to ensure they attend all school activities.0 -
I just reread my post and I really do agree with you I was just explaining just how much we are expected to pay out and there is pressure to do so
If there is really pressure then I agree that's unreasonable, however, are you sure that you're not putting pressure on yourself? If it were me I'd just say sorry I'm really skint this month, and I'm sure that no-one (who didn't need to get a life) would think ill of you. Just let them get on with it and support them where you can and hold your head up high when you can't! :beer:0
