I will say I agree with paddy on drupal being more diverse in many respects, I haven't seen the website in question so can't say for sure but I have confidence he is right.

I really would recommend at least having a go at building one yourself, seriously you will be amazed how easy it actually is.

Thanks for your input. All these tips really help. That is really interesting about Drupal, thanks Lighthouse in the dark. I will check that book out too.

Percy1983 I am certainly going to attempt to build something on my own initially. I think it's worth having a go, at least until I have my finances organised. I'm sure if I need specific advice I will be able to ask/hire someone to assist me later.

Are there any other websites/books you recommend to assist me?

    Thank you again!

You could try w3schools.com - they have free online courses on things such as HTML, CSS, PHP and SQL.

As mentioned I am happy to setup a sandbox for your to try drupal/wordpress.

Its only a few clicks on my part.

I will say my approach was just go for it, I started on wordpress and had a few pictures up and pages rather quickly, from there it was simplely 'what do I want it to do next' after a quick google and a bit of messing a new feature worked, then on to the next etc.
