We have just had the most amazing sunset and red sky so hopefully that means another nice day tomorrow.

laks is on my contact list sheils :j
(along with other main comp posters) so I just click into each morning/whenever to check on their postings,
that way I don't miss many they post,
I find it easier to add the main ops to contacts & that way if they've posted multiple comps it's quicker to go straight through to enter or not which ones you want,
specially for sites they do multiple entrys on,
say for example elverman,
he posts the yours online ones every other week so I click on his contact & can go through all the yours postings in one go,
only takes a few mins & saves time by going through comps on main board with all the other ones posted inbetween & if someone else has posted a yours one I just put 'yours.co.uk'
in the search after to check if there's any more,
I do this for lots of ops that post the same comps reg,
&/or just put the site into search & get the latest postings
then go through the board for the others,
suppose we all have our diff ways of doing but after years on here I always try to find the quickest/easiest way & it helps having double pages open to go through them quicker :eek:

I had a choc ice for afters

Dupe means a duplicate of a comp that's already been posted on the boards :eek::) happens lots of times

Just a MSE users short version of duplicate ie two of the same are posted.
A merge is usually carried out to save possible disqualification.

1 What do I do if I see a comp which has already expired / been posted on here? / How do I send a merge request to a Board Guide?
On any page of the Forum, towards the bottom right of the page under the list of comp threads, it says who the Board Guides (BGs) are for this forum. Below is the current list:

If you click a BG name, it will take you to their profile page, over on the right is the 'Contact Info' & you should see a link to 'Send a private message to xxxx'

If you click that, a Private Message (PM) box will display & then all you need to do is put a title (eg Merge Request Please), then tell the BG what the Original Thread URL & the Dupe Thread URL is. (Highlight the URL of a thread in the bar at the top of the browser screen & right click > copy. Then click your mouse back into the PM box & right click > paste). You can ‘Preview Message’ to see how it will look, if you want, before you click to ‘Submit message’.

I used divadee for my example above. Please try to spread your requests across all the BGs so we don’t overload just 1 of them, as they are volunteers to help the board run smoothly & do want the time to enter & post some comps too!

Please also post on the duplicate comp thread that it is a dupe, include a link to the original thread & if you mention that you have sent a merge request to whichever BG you sent it to, then that will save others doing exactly the same thing & bombarding the poor BGs with multiple requests for the same thing.


2 There is a closed comp on the main board, should I do anything?
Absolutely! We can all try to help to keep the Competitions Time Forum tidy, comps which have gone past their end date are moved to the Game Over Forum. If you notice that a comp has closed early or there is a comp which has ended in the main Competitions Time Forum then please see above for how to send a Private Message to a Board Guide.

Instead of a Merge Request though, you could perhaps title it 'Closed Comps' depending on how many you found. It would be a great idea if you found a couple to send them all through on the same PM. It will then bring it / them to the attention of a BG so they can move it / them to the Game Over sub forum.

Haven't tried that FF although I have my fav comps and do sometimes get them up all at once. I really am a bit random at entering. One day I will get organised.

Just been looking at my contacts FF. I must have started to try this a while ago - I only have comping cat, eviledna and you on my list. Is it find all posts that I click on?
I wonder what happened to eviledna. I used to chat to her quite often in here and by PM. She just seemed to vanish.

my SIL does comps ending sheils but I can't get on with that :eek:
half the time the comps have ended early or they've changed the comp/question :eek:
big sis enters whenever she feels like it & then moans she doesn't win much :eek: :rotfl: cheeky mare won a big prize last month & never even told me for days after till I saw her name on a winners list so maybe randomly entering works just as good
