Can I get a personal contract purchase car with a high annual mileage?
Edit: Sorry, I don't mean hire-purchase. I mean personal contract purchase.
Hi,
I haven't started the car hunt yet, but due to a new job I have I'll be commuting about 180 miles a day, every day, for about 50 weeks in a year. This makes my annual milage at about 45,000 ± 5,000.
I've been looking at a number of cars with good mpg and that look and feel nice. So far, Mercedes A-class, MINI, Audi A1 and A3, BMW1 and Ford Fiesta have all caught my attention.
I won't be able to afford any of the above cars cash in hand, but I'll be able to make the monthly finance payments if I was to hire purchase the car for a term of 3-4 years.
On their websites, they all assume 10,000 miles (or near enough) in their contracts. I don't intend to visit a garage until later in the year when I have to buy, but does anyone know if either of the above companies allow high annual mileage hire purchase contracts? I don't want to pay amount of pence for every mile driven on a low mileage contract.
Thanks

Apologies, I mean a car brought under PCP (personal contract purchase)0

45,000 a year you will have turned the average car from new to something that goes through the banger section of the local auction value wise.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

I would move closer to work.
I suspect it would cost less, and you will soon begin to hate that long journey at the start and end of every work day.
As a side note, not many cars would do that job for you reliably (without enormous maintenance costs, anyway) I definitely would forget all those small German things you have listed. And that my son, is how to waft a towel!0 -
Most of my miles would be raked up on the motorway, if that helps. Moving closer is out of the question, I'm afraid. I live with my parents and my only utility bills are mobile phone and gym.0

As already said you are going to be doing over 3 times the annual average. 46.5 weeks (52-4 weeks holiday - 1.5 weeks public holdays) at is 41850 against 10-12000. I doubt any company will giver you a contract with anything like that mileage becuase there will be novalue in the car if the repossess it.
I suggest you look at a car that is 3-4 years old with low mileage and drive it into the ground. You are also going to have to factor in servicing the car 2 or 3 times a year.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

Why is moving out of the question? Lots of people live with their parents, and then move out when they can...it's called growing up.Sanctimonious Veggie. GYO-er. Seed Saver. Get in.0 -
you can get high mileage pcp contracts, you might struggle with a 4 year one though at 50,000. I can only go by my companies limits but am sure every company is probably different so probably worth an ask. Also another thing to note is your residual value would be significantly less so higher monthly rentals0

At that mileage the car is worthless after a year, the risk to the finance company is then high, thus payments are going to be huge.
Anyone still at home with parents and talking about a 1 series or AClass and travelling that mileage needs their head examined, the monthly cost will be far more than rent/mortgage payments.0 -
If you are hell-bent on commuting, and personally I would just move much closer to work, then a PCP is the worst thing to do.
The GMFV figure would be ridiculously low after a 36 month rental as the car will have done c.140-150k.
You're best off buying a 2-3 year old car with sensible mileage and running it into the ground.
Avoid 1-series (turbo problems on diesels) and if you get an Audi don't get a DSG with the mileage you'd be doing.

I did state that the rentals would be huge... just said it was possible it would still probably work out cheaper rentals than a straight HP0
