Four children , abroad , in the school holidays is never going to be cheap .
Op said they are going mid June which isn't in the school holidays...Rational judgement, now, at this very moment.

What about James villas? They are good if youre not confident with using something like Owners direct and want a villa. Although I dont see why you cant use Owners direct.
Id pick somewhere with a short flight and avoid a long car journey with 4 kids!0 -

James villas are really expensive would have a look at other companies before them.
Agree with short flight and car journey with small children.
I like France but when mine were small we tended to go to Majorcia for the weather.Rational judgement, now, at this very moment.

Brittany is a lot closer than the south of France, but has lovely beaches and quaint historic towns. We still had to break the journey though as we're a good 4 hours away from the UK ports - Formule 1 hotels were cheap for that although you'll only get 4 in a room, so DH and I had to take a room each and share the kids!
Eating out in France is expensive as they don't seem to have the plethora of cheap chain pub/restaurant that we have here, so you'll probably need to cook. The upside is that the bakeries are wonderful, and the markets are full of lovely local produce. Plus there are the usual Carrefour hypermarkets etc on the outskirts of most large towns.0
