Steve Squires NHS Continuing Healthcare Avocacy Service.

Has anyone used an advocacy service provided by Steve Squires in achieving NHS Continuing Healthcare for a relative?
I sent him £500 as an "up front fee". In return I recieved some standard letters in an initial email and that was about it. His communication was minimal and, although he said that he sent a letter to the PCT, he never let me know.
I was wondering if anyone else had anything positive/negative to say?

I don't understand, why pay anyone for a Continuing Healthcare Assessment? The hospital/home/health authority should be doing this for free whenever the patient's needs change (trans: deteriorates).:huh: Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
He doesn't do any assessing. He describes his role as;
Personal Counsellingand Advocacy:I already act as a personal counsellor and advocate for a number of people inthe UK and overseas who find it difficult, impractical and costly to attendmeetings, review panels, etc.- which are likely to prove totally abortiveanyway! I am therefore prepared to act as a personal advocate for allclaimants, taking over the task of dealing directly with the'authorities' on their behalf, in respect of continuing care funding andrestitution claims. In many cases this can be over the telephone rather thanvia. protracted correspondence. To offset some of the costs involved - butprimarily to raise funds for future campaign litigation - I need to charge forthis on much the same basis as that employed by solicitors, whose current feesare around £160 - £200 or more per hour. I have set my charge at only £50 perhour which I think is not unreasonable - particularly as solicitorsoccasionally 'phone me for information which doubtless they then'sell-on' to their own clients! (I have no objection to this - in fact Iwelcome it) Note: Any legalguidance I require in dealing with your case will NOT be charged toyou!
In order to getthings moving, I ask for an up-front fee of only £500. and undertake todeal directly with all matters related to a continuing NHS care funding disputeor restitution claim and keep my 'client' fully appraised of the situation asit progresses and any costs and expenses incurred are not charged asadditional 'disbursements' - other than travel costs. (Also, this initialfee includes 'Founder Membership of nhsCCC') Todate I have not asked anyone for additional funds in order to progress theircase.

Been there, done that. Ask myself often how could I have fallen for it! But I did and so have many others.
