Interesting Life Insurance query!

Hi all

I'm having problems gaining health insurance due to having Whilmes tumour as a baby and raised blood pressure now.

I've Done an application with Aviva and they are prepared to give me insurance but they need to get incontact with my doctors to make sure all is ok etc..

This is all good and well but they want direct debit details off me now, before making the enquiries?

Are they ok to do this and if they wrote off to my doctors who said i was fine.. Would they just start the policy off or would they have to contact me first? Obviously i'd like the final say incase i can get it somewhere cheaper in the mean time

I dont want to get stuck in a policy that i dont agree with or am not prepared to pay for a set term time etc

Any help is appreciated

Regards

Matt

They cannot start a dd until you have accepted your policy.

Any money they take wrongly would be immediately credited back to you by your bank under the dd guarantee.

They have not yet said they will cover you.

So far, you've had a quotation and have applied. They are now carrying out medical underwriting, which includes the completion of questionnaires, a report from your GP and possibly a medical examination.

Once the underwriting is complete, you will be sent Acceptance Terms if the insurer is prepared to offer you cover. The terms will show the amount of cover, term, premiums and any restrictions or exclusions.

If you choose to accept the terms, you sign and return the declaration they send with the Acceptance and confirm the commencement date. They will then send you a statutory cancellation notice (30 days) and the policy document. At the same time, you will also be notified of the premium payment dates. Premiums are payable in advance, so you may pay two premiums in the first month.

Returning the completed direct debit now does not place any obligation on you.

Ok so athlough I'm giving them my details to make payments... They cannot start the policy unless I agree to it?

My concern was if I do this with Aviva then they decline then I go somewhere else and they do the same steps... There will be a few company's with all my direct debit details and I'm not keen on that.

Keep the DD then and send it back with your signed terms if you are happy and want to proceed once you get them.

    You worry too much.

(Everyone you have ever written a cheque to has your "direct debit details")
