Small Businees bookeeping

I run a small pt, one man biz and do my own books. My wife works PT and is under the tax threshold. If she did my books monthly hence she gave me 12 invoices per year, is this allowed? Not looking to fiddle tax man as I want to sleep at night but when I saw what I was paying a bookkeeper it makes sense to keep it indoors privately and financially. Plus I can check it more often.

Yes that is fine. She will have to register for self assessment though and complete a return annually.0

Is she already self employed - if not, it's highly unlikely that she'd meet the HMRC "employment status" tests to be self employed doing just your book-keeping.
You probably need to employ her as an employee, in which case you give her payslips and you need to register with HMRC as an employer and submit the necessary submissions/returns to HMRC under a PAYE scheme.0
