I do not believe the cakes would come out in that shape. I've never had luck with these things (or the right skills!), easier to bake boring shape and then cut it up...

i have the train one and it is really good. i just give it a wee wipe with sunflower oil before using and the cakes come out perfectly. My one issue is that if you ice them you lose a lot of the detail however that doesn't stop DS requesting them ...

Sorry to bump this thread - but I just wanted to share this.
Soooo pleased with it. (I just have to decide how to decorate it - dusting of icing sugar, or drizzle with icing).
    THANK YOU OP!!

(PS I used the following recipe: http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/3092/ultimate-chocolate-cake And just smeared butter on the inside of the tin as I would do any other tin).

Oooh I'm jealous! I'm still waiting for my tins because one of them went out of stock...wish I'd known which ones were in stock so I could be baking by now!

Has anyone been able to get a refund yet for any nordicware that was out of stock? Pots and Pans have been promising me a refund for weeks. I have had to start a Paypal dispute!

No, I have been asking for a refund via email for a while, and ringing them gets nowhere - no one picks up.

Seems highly likely that they are in trouble and we won't see our refunds. Highly frustrating.
