Making Life Easier

Hi there, I have one dd who is 3 1/2 and my second baby on the way in a few months.

Im finding time to be a little on the short side these days and im getting concered for when no 2 arrives. What Im hoping is for some food advice really as I would like to cook some batches of food to freeze so Im not having to cook meals for 3 of us while juggling a newborn. (My hubby cant cook to save his life bless him)

Anyway any ideas more than welcome
Regards
Kim

    Hi,
Good old spag bol sauce is a great one to batch cook. Its so versatile. De-frost it and make spag bol (obviously) , put mash on top and make cottage pie or use it to make lasagne. You could also make a savoury crumble mix to add on top to make a mince meat crumble. Heat it in a pan and add dumplings. Add chilli and tinned kidney beans while heating it up to make chilli con carne ( maybe not for your daughter though) You could take a little out for her before adding the chilli.
    Hope this helps.

the best advice i can give. is don't put yourself under too much pressure.

whatever meal u do cook always try to cook double or triple and freeze it then. but if u feel u have to spend a whole day cooking it might seem hard to do.

loads of meals can be frozen.i make pies ( well the bases) then i can add mash spud or puff pasty depending on what i fancy ( or have in) also i freeze chilli , spag bol , rice . basically anything left over. lasagne is a good freeze meal.

i buy the silver foil tray and lids can get them in £1 shops and morrisons. then u can de-frost meal , cook it and just throw away.

Congrats anyway on pregnancy. my 2 were 19 month apart ( not as close as yours) but it good having a close gap.

I also do chicken in a white sauce - this goes well with pasta/ in a pie filling/ with rice, with roast potatoes, in jackets or even in a breville toastie :D
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind

I would invest in a slow cooker. It will only take a few minutes to prepare your meat and veg, throw everything in and stir in a packet mix, switch on and that is your evening meal sorted.

Even your non-cooking hubbie should be able to manage that :D

Since you probably have lots of 0-3 month clothes from your first baby why not ask good friends to bring over a homecooked meal when they first visit your new addition at home?
