Capital One Balance Transfer

Debt-free and Proud!
I've just tried transferring my M&S balance to my existing Capital One card having seen the offer promoted on this web site and the tv. ie 3% fee and 0%until July '08. I'm told that this isn't available on my account. When I asked what the difference is I was told that this offer is 'brand new customers only'. Will I get anywhere by threatening to cancel (of course I could then re-apply as a new customer but that would be a lot of pratting about).

Suggestions please.

Yes, that offer is for new cutomers only. When you took out your card, you would have had a similar offer.

It can't be expected of CC companies to continually give out 0%, they would never make any money! That's what they are there for, to make money.

If you ring them up, (there is no need to threaten) and ask "what could you offer me if i were to bring a balnace over to you?" then they will make you an offer...... if you are a good customer to them, (I.e not too many late payments, don't go over your lilmit etc)you dont need to threaten to close, your are within your rights to ask for an offer.

they may make you an offer, they may not. in any case it will not match the new customer offer.

Just close down and reapply. I don't see what the issue is. Yes, it may be a bit of hassle, but at least you'll get the offer.
