No, the Halifax EasyCash account IS the Visa Electron card account so everything to do with having an Electron card. ;)

I think the point being made is that purely having an Electron card isn't stopping the OP from getting the credit card.

It's more that the OP most likely has a lower-than-required credit profile, which has caused them to be rejected for the credit card, in the same way that they got rejected for a regular bank account, and ended up with a basic account instead... which happens to come with the Electron card.

Perhaps so, but how would you get the Halifax Electron card without the account? They're one and the same. AIUI you can't have the card without the account.

As the OP, I know you are absolutely wrong. :D Which credit card do you think I've been rejected for?

Oh, wait. Perhaps you didn't mean the OP. You meant a financial editor of a national newspaper. I dare you to say that to his face. :)

Many thanks for your response. I thought as much. I have been thinking of trying Barclays. I have read on here a few times of people being accepted by them.

Have you done anything to build up your credit history since being discharged?

I started from the month I was discharged with a Vanquis card and continued on from there. I now have a mortgage, Amex Platinum and Barclaycard Platinum, amongst all the other stuff I've had in the mean time, and it's only been five years.

EDIT: I see you have an Aquacard. Good start. Give it six months before applying for a full current account, although you may want to consider someone other than Barclays just because they're rubbish.

Thought about Nationwide? They offered me a full bank account and credit card no problem, but I have built an insane amount of credit history since discharge from BR.
    Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

I was also thinking of trying Nationwide. I have had a savings account with them for some time now, I don`t know that would help or not though.

I read on here that they might be a bit more demanding when it comes to giving full current accounts though.

In a few months I will try one of them.

Barclays would only give me a Cashcard account January 2012
I applied for a Barclays Bank Account and got it in May 2012
I applied for a Barclaycard Initial Credit Card and got it in December 2012

Barclays are not too bad, the only issue is their Debit Card Fraud department can be frustrating if you have any issues.
I have numerous qualifications in Business and Finance, Accountancy, Health and Safety and am now studying Law.

Don't rely on anything I write as it may be wrong!!!
