Laptop for Minecraft? This one?

Options
Will this laptop be ok to play Minecraft on?

It is £280 which is probably more than I would have like to spend, but it is second time lucky, as it is unplayable on a netbook I recently bought (And since sold)

Thanks in advance

You haven't linked to the laptop specification or detailed it - we clearly need that before we can comment.

You need to look at the benchmarks for the graphics card really. Minecraft is not too intensive but with a budget of £280 I doubt you'll get anything that has good performance. This is especially the case if you are thinking of joiing internet servers.

Price range depends on if you are looking to buy brand new. If so, £280 will be pushing it for decent specifications.

My last laptop cost me £150 from eBay. Was a refurbed model but had very good specs for the price. It ran Minecraft quite well, with just the odd drop in FPS.

Just thought i'd mention that you don't need to spend a fortune to have a playable game of the good ol' MC.

It is for my son for school stuff, and Minecraft obsession, my own laptop is much worst spec than this and would say works to a degree, bit laggy I suppose, would just value some advice from people that
    know more about it.

Not bother tbh if laptop is new or other, as long as there is some kind of warranty, preferably 12 months

    cheers

if that spec won't play minecraft, I'll eat my shorts.... the one I refurbed for Mini-Gun #2 is a lesser spec than that and it plays minecraft just fine.....you should be able to go easily below £150 for a refurb or around £200-£220 on argos ebay outlet if a 12-month warranty is important to you.

It works fine in Windows 8, that link refers to Windows 8 certification for the app store - that means you won't be able to buy Minecraft through the Microsoft store which isn't really much of a loss.

According to the spec, that machine has an AMD E1-1200 processor which I wouldn't recommend for Minecraft as it's a processor aimed for low power use so its performance isn't great.
