Hello everyone. Welcome to the Weekly Spend Challenge. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.

On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. The challenge runs from Sunday to Friday so we don't include Saturdays but feel free to change the rules to suit you and include Saturdays or start on a different day.

Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track. We colour code the results as below:

Green - within budget
Red - overbudget
Purple - zero spend
Orange - made money over the week

This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever.

Moozie was the founder of this challenge and here is a quote taken from her:

The challenge is about incidental spending and not for stuff that should be budgeted elsewhere such as bills, groceries, debt repayment etc but you decide what to include at the end - this is about changing your habits and improving your recording of your spends more than anything else. Have a great week everyone and keep it low!!! Moozie x"

Good Luck Everyone

Well it would seem there were a few of us overspending last week.

Well I'm setting £40 for the week as my weekly budget. And £30 as my top up grocery budget. So £70 total for me.

    Sun - NSD
    Mon - NSD
Tues - petrol (separate budget). £10 sawdust. £25 top up shop
    Weds - Hair (separate budget)
    Thurs - NSD
Fri - £25 leaving meal with work for my maternity leave.
Sat - £5 paper and bits and bobs

    = £65 / £75

Leaving £5 for other odds and sods, although I am hoping not to spend £25 on my meal.

Ooooo just remembered have got £5 in my purse too.

    Awww, thanks ETO xx

I have been ebaying like a mad woman since new years day and I still have loads to sell.

I never thought I would be this far along by the end of March though. I get quite emotional about how much I have achieved this year really. Sad, but true!!

I am a member of the debt free by xmas 2013 thread run by Spagbol and it is so inspirational :A

Ah, ended up just going RED - £62.99/£60

No easter eggs to be found in the shops yesterday. They've been on my list all month too, can't believe I missed out - oops :o

Bought a rather lovely and huge box of chocs for DM and mini choc bunnies for others....oh, and the bottle of wine is what tipped me over from green ;)

So, this week, I'm buying DDs birthday present (it's not till May but ordering her driving licence), DN's birthday present and going to a Grand National party at sis's on Saturday (I need to count Saturdays or else there would be carnage!). Also need to pay for tickets for DD's show and for an 80s band that I've been persuaded to go and see in December....

I'll include the birthday pressies, tickets and party in my target for this week so pledging £130
please. Wow, that's a lot when I count it all up. Birthday pressies are covered by the presents budget though but still....

ETO, thanks for the thread :A
