Over-Wintering in Europe in a Campervan

My plan for my retirement in a few years time is to over-winter in the warmer parts of Europe, Southern France, Spain, Portugal, Italy for say, 3 months or so around December to March.

My intention is to buy a motor caravan to live in this for these trips.

I have owned a campervan in the past, which I converted myself, so I am not a a complete novice to this sort of thing but I haven't spent an extended time abroad in one.

I would welcome any useful tips as to where to stay, equipment to take, or any other useful information from anyone who may have done, or is considering doing similar.

One of the most difficult things about taking any motor vehicle abroad for any length of time is getting insurance that covers you when abroad. Most companies only offer a limited time. The only one that I know of that gives an unlimited time abroad is Saga, but I do not know if they cover caravanettes.

Thanks for that brodev, it's not something that I had thought of. I will have to do some research into it
