The only way I did it was to go through the whole process i.e. to the final 'confirm' page.Clive0

What and it then converted into £'s?0

I think you would need to Google it!
i.e. search for 2.49 usd in gbp for the conversion. May vary slightly as Google won't necessarily use the same exchange rates as your bank but it should be close enough. Last time I bought some it was only a few pence out.
It looks like all the transactions go thought the .com site and I can't see anywhere to change the currency.0 -
I know how to convert the money thank you. What I am trying to do is convert it into £'s so I don't incur a charge from my bank.0

If Google ONLY accept payment via their US site (in $) then you can't avoid the bank conversion and exchange charges ... unless you acquire a pre-loaded payment card that has $ currency.0

stick the price on $ here http://xe.com
according to them :
$2.49 = £1.64 (rounded up)
$9.99 = £6.58 (rounded up)
*NOTE* those prices are Excluding VAT so add on an extra 20%Laters

I wasn't trying to say you didn't! However, as I said:It looks like all the transactions go thought the .com site and I can't see anywhere to change the currency.
so they force you to pay in $'s. A bit of Googling on your behalf and I have found this (Post 3) and this (Post 4) so there appears to currently be no way around paying the charges.0 -
Oh ok, thank you. Sorry for my rant earlier.0
