When changing cars is it generally cheaper to cancel you existing policy or to change it over to the new car?
On changing address recently I got stung for "policy change" costs which really annoyed me, so don't want to get hit again!

Varies. Depends what you have and what your getting and who with.
If you cancel mid term there will be cancellation charges etc.
It maybe cheaper to swap the cars over. Dont change cars mid term and you wont get any charges.
Either way its going to cost you. Cancellation or admin fee to change the car.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
but when you do a policy change somebody has to update records etc. Do you work for nothing?0

Even if your insurer charges for policy changes it will be much cheaper to change car with them (assuming the new car is acceptable to them) than cancelling which will cost far more than any change fee, as well as meaning you won't get your ncd for the part year.0

Hadn't thought about the NCD, though I've maximum already...0 -

No, but then I don't get paid a premium for a potential risk either - I earn my cash through blood, sweat and sometimes tears...0
