If only I could find that post, I think it was from Boots, No 7 or Neutrogena rings a bell but I'm not sure, hopefully the OP will see this, I hear the Kiehls one is very good but its not very MSE http://www.kiehls.co.uk/body/by-category/sun-care-self-tan/cross-terrain-uv-face-protector-spf-50.aspx.

If it was neutrogena I wonder if it was this one:

I think I have an Olay 30 moisturiser. That is pretty good for general summer use here.

Ultrasun is amazing - was sold in JL and Waitrose last summer - I always buy off QVC early on in the year. Can appear quite pricey, but it really is worth it IMO. It's a once-a-day application onto clean dry skin. Wait 10 mins before aplying makeup/ moisturiser.

I have very fair skin and burn easily. Spent time in Las Vegas last year and not a hint of 'burn' in sight. Would never use anything else now.

Note - I think there is a TSV on QVC sometime soon, usually offers really good value.

I bought Lancôme Genefique factor 50 last summer, there is a review on debenhams website that seems to fit your spec. Sorry can't post links at the mo.

I use that for autumn/winter, it isn't any good for the summer as it's only designed for 'incidental' sun exposure, as it says on the box.

You need a proper sunscreen for summer, not just a moisturiser with sunscreen in.

You don't mean the one I mentioned? The make is Sunsense (Aussie brand) 'Daily Face' SPF 50. They do a few types but my family uses the tinted matt version(oily/combination skin)
    Amazon sells the Sunsense range.
I used this last year. I found that if I touched my face / rubbed it mildly if I had an itch, the sunscreen would kind of wrinkle off and form visible 'bits' on the surface of the skin. Have you ever had this problem?

I've just been looking at Ultrasun 50 Face on Amazon, it's about £22 inc p&p. Can you remember how much you paid via QVC? The other Ultrasuns are cheaper (£18), but they don't specify that they can be used without problems on the face. Was yours specifically for the face? Also, do you have any issues with it looking visibly white once applied? Does it make you look shiny?

Bought mine as part of a kit - so do not know the price of the individual item, sorry. I'm sure a quick web search could sort out that little problem.

I use the Face 30(?) I think! Not at home right now, so cant check! Sinks in really well - so much so that I tend not to use a primer on top of my moisturiser. Never had a problem with it looking shiny.

If you do buy off QVC remember they have a 30 day money back gaurentee - so you can use the product for the best part of a month and then return it for a refund if it's not what you were expecting. TBH, this is the reason I started shopping with them. My skin is really sensitive and I was wasting money buying stuff that I soon found out caused a reaction.

NOTE - I do not work for QVC - just think they have amazing customer service!

Thanks everyone :) It may of been the Neutrogena one above but I'm sure it was available in Boots etc in the UK, I have very oily skin but need a high spf as I have regular peels and use a Retin A cream each night plus we have skin cancer in our family so I need to be very aware, still unsure which one to buy so may be a case of actually going shopping, I will certainly check out the Soltan range, I loved their self tanner when I still used high street products.

The Ultrasun sounded good so I just watched a presentation on QVC... it seems pretty impressive and being the Today's Special Value there's a really good deal on it, but the SPF 50+ choice is running low so check it out early if you're interested. (It'll be on their website, too, of course.)

On the other hand my OH is a keen cyclist and needs good sun protection on his nose :D in hot sun. He's very pleased with his L'Oreal SPF 50+ face so it must withstand quite a test!

A phoenix I haven't had that problem with it but there again I do wear foundation on top of it too

Hughjass one of my family is on Retin A too and also takes other drugs meaning they have to minimise their sun exposure Susense is one brand that appears to be recommended by specialists time after time
