Courier delivered to wrong address. Items stolen
MicroMantis
I am a business, and ordered some items which I sell through my usual supplier.
The courier failed to deliver to the address on the label.
For example, item was addressed to Unit 55A but was delivered to Unit 55.
The company who received the item came to tell me that the items had been delivered to the wrong address and I could call to collect the items.
I went to collect the items, and the person who had signed for them took me to get the parcel, and said to me 'I dont know if anyone has dipped into the box, but it wasnt me'
When I walked away with the opened box (they opened it to see who it was for, even though my address was on the label) they had ripped open 2 of the boxes, and have stolen some of the product from the boxes.
I now cannot sell these items as they have been opened, and some items are missing.
I went to see their boss, who fobbed me off, and sent me to their other unit, who also fobbed me off and did not seem to care.
Is this a matter for the police? They have opened a box not addressed to them, and stolen some of my goods.
I am a small business, and they are a much larger business, with 4 units on the estate.
Where do I stand on this? Obviously the courier is at fault, but for something to be stolen, I am shocked and disgusted with the company.
What should I do? Can I involve the police?
Many Thanks and I look forward to your help.

Sounds like an employee of the company nicked it not the company themselves. I would speak to the police. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I would speak to the company you bought them from. They failed to deliver it to the right address and as a result you have suffered a loss.
How did you pay?Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
I paid with debit card, and I cant see how the company who sells the goods is at fault.
The courier delivered to the wrong address, which is clearly stated on the label.
The other company who's employee opened the parcel is clearly at fault, as they should have taken care of my item as it was incorrectly delivered.
Instead they left it on a desk, and made all of the fitters aware of the contents, and someone stole the items from within 2 sealed boxes within the outer packaging.
The company do not care and do not want to know. That is why I wonder whether to get the police involved.
If some of their stock had turned up at my unit, I would not dream to open the box, and steal their goods, so why should they get away with doing it to me?
Is it a police matter?0 -
You cannot prove that it was not already open before it was delivered to the company.
I think trying to get the police involved would be a waste of timeOwing on CC £00.00 :j

The supplier of the goods is legally responsible for refunding you. They can then take action against the courier, who has delivered to the wrong location, and in turn, the courier can contact the police if they believe the goods have been stolen after their delivery.0
