different coloured stain on either side of an engineered white oak door

Advice sought.

Will be changing all doors in house. Plan is to have engineered white oak doors throughout with OSMO oil to match staircase.

One particular bedroom as a contemporary design with a grey/anthracite/white theme.

WOuld it be possible to have OSMO natural oak look on the outside matching all the other doors in the hallway, while staining the wood in a grey for the inside.

Never seen this before and not sure it would work or could be done in a way that would look natural. Then again I'm no expert so look forward to your thoughts.

TIA

  • Yes it can be done.

Stain the lock edge of the door it inside colour and the hinge edge the outside colour.

This is so the stain is constant when the door is open.
