Our Dimplex storage heaters label the output damper control as 'Boost'.

So 'Boost' does feature on some models, but it is just the damper control.

Boost in the context of E7 does not feature at all, you are reading / taking it out of context my friend, the context and the thread-line is :

    .1. - dogshome #3 Today, 9:12 AM said - "ECO10 that gives a boost in the afternoon"

.2. - Richie-from-the-Boro #10 Today, 3:38 PM said - "the storage heater [apart from DUO's] do not have a boost feature, its the E10 tariff ie, 10 hours, while the cheaper E7 tariff has 7 hours"

To the O/P, the damper which exists on all night store heaters is nothing to with posts by myself and dogshome and does not boost in the context we gave of drawing more electricity from the grid and converting it to heat.

The damper, a metal flap merely decants pre-existing heat stored the previous night into the room more quickly when open, and shuts in for longer the previous nights stored heat when closed. The E10 Boost feature is a completely different and totally unrelated subject to the damper. It was to avoid just this confusion I coloured my post red. E10 is a more expensive and very difficult to switch tariff very few providers cater for - its more expensive because it gives the luxury of 3 an extra hours boost of electricity during the day hours when E7 is off.

"Boost" might also refer to using peak-rate daytime electricity for a secpndary convector heater built into the storage heater, eg Dimplex Duoheat. This will use peak-rate electricity.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.

Agreed my friend, hence that's why I said in #10 "- the storage heater COLOR="Red"]apart from DUO's[/COLOR do not have a boost feature"

Boost in the context lstar337 gave was to do with the damper - hence lstar337 said - "Our Dimplex storage heaters label the output damper control as 'Boost'"

Our 3 bed maisonette has storage heaters and I find them fantastic. We are on economy 7 tarif and don't have any gas and our eleci bill is £21.00 a month! Gas has got so expensive but everyone is so scared about electric when they need'nt be.
Hi, how do you get your electric usage this low per month?? I live in a 2 bed flat and only use one storage heater and everything else is also electric and my monthly spend is averaging around £60 per month in the winter, £40 per month in the spring and autumn and aound £24per month in the summer and theres only me. Unless you mean the storage heater is costing you £21.00 per month and even that is cheaper than my one i use which is around £38 per month.

Yes, 'Boost' in this context is rather confusing. Typically I would consider the term 'Boost' to be associated with E10 systems or dual heaters with an added convector (Duo Heat).

Only our largest (3.4kW) heater has the damper control labled as 'Boost', all the others are simply labelled 'Output' control.

I can kind of see why Dimplex may have done this, it does effectively 'Boost' the room temp by releasing its heat faster.

Anyway, I only wanted to highlight that even standard storage heaters may refer to a 'Boost' feature, although it is truly only a damper control.

I didn't intend to add any confusion to the thread.

    - not a problem my friend, I wanted to avoid any confusing 'terms' for Boobydoo
    - your single 16 bricker can't be from the DUO range, the biggest DUO only holds 18.2kWh so it will be a 2.6kW

No, we don't have any Duo heaters, they are all standard Dimplex storage heaters. The 3.4kW which is labelled 'Boost' for the damper control, is a XLS24N.
