I have to accept the property as it is seen when signing the paperwork, and will also not be able to get any repairs done by the council for half a year from the moving in point.
This is a concern. What happens if the heating or hot water fails?I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. There are some great water repellent paints you can use instead of tiles., Lots of different, non-expensive options.
Have lived in many non-tiled bathrooms in my life. Never had water damage as looked after the places.0 -
If you don't fancy trying your hand at tiling (although if you buy pre-mixed grout and use spacers it's surprisingly easy- and plain white tiles are really cheap) B&Q or others do UPVC cladding in big panels, designed for bathrooms and showers. About £40 for a pck of 4 panels, each 2.4m, by 1/4 m, so you'd only need 1-2 packs. Not used them, but I assume they're easy to cut and stick up.0

Write to council asking them to tile it.. keep copy of letter... then if they don't & there's later water damage their problem...
Brilliant attitude. I bet the council would just love having you as a tenant. And I bet your neighbours fell on their feet when you moved in.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0
