They agreed to a part refund but felt really annoyed as had to run out at the last minute for replacements. Don't think I will risk ordering again when its for a special occasion- staff don't seem to be able to sort out issues - say they will and it does not happen. Great customer service or what !!

I had problem with an easter hamper too received a despatch email on 23/3 , still waiting for it 5 days later, phoned to be told it was never despatched and was ordered for collection from their head office ?? like that is even an option on their website. Supposedly escalated the complaint but not heard from them. Useless and will probably not even get the refund back to my card without having to keep chasing them. I was running around late Good Friday buying eggs but didn't get what I wanted :mad:0 -
Incase anyone wonders, I have just received my 'the big chocolate' hamper from Thorntons. It had a BBE July 2013 sticker on the box, but when I've opened it up and looked inside the earliest BBE is end of August. Thought it might help anyone else planning on giving it for a birthday gift.

Sorry only just read back - yes it was the 'The Big Chocolate' Hamper. (Although I don't make it 2kg+... vanilla fudge 380g, special toffee box 625g, mint toffee 105g, banana toffee 105g = 1215g)Was that the "chocolate" hamper? I noticed that 2kgs+ is actually toffee and fudge. With my bridgework, I couldn't risk it!
(Also thanks to the above posts - I thoroughly checked the contents and I was 209g down according to the list on the website bearing in mind stock levels and item replacements.. Phoned them up and they are sending me a replacement 274g box. Will let you know if it arrives ok.)0 -
Yes - you are quite correct. Even allowing for the chocolate-covered caramel items (which I also now avoid) it's only 1.635kgs.Sorry only just read back - yes it was the 'The Big Chocolate' Hamper.
