I sought advice on an arthritis forum at the same time as I started this thread. They have also said that I should have tests for RA as the pain in my fingers was a burning pain and they are tender to touch. Consequently I am going to make an appointment with a different GP at my surgery. It'll probably take weeks to see him but should be better than seeing the GP that are more easily accessible.

Try and find out if they can do some investigations into your previous allergic reaction.

They may be able to find out if you can have different anti inflammatories without the reaction you had to Diclofenac.

This needs to be done as when you get older it is highly likely that Aspirin will be prescribed as it is used as a preventative measure in those at risk of heart problems or stroke, not just given to those that have bad one already.

    Aspirin is an NSAID.

Hopefully this different GP will be able to arrange some blood tests.

As an aside i wouldn't mention that you are there due to a forum or Google search. Just say you are concerned it could be inflammatory Arthritis and leave it at that.

Well I finally got to see my favourite GP who has organised blood tests without me having to ask for them. He has also given me meds (not sleeping pills) to help me sleep, as the pain from my hernia has worsened as well as giving the hospital a kick up the backside with regards to getting my hernia repaired.

He also reckons that I should be ok with my anti inflammatory cream but to be careful and aware when I first use it again

Well worth the wait to see him :)
