Insurance dates overlap

I currently have separate buildings and contents insurance and there is a 10-day difference in start dates of policies (mix up at renewal time meant I was without contents cover during a 10-day period).

Having shopped around now the policy I want to buy is a combined buildings & contents. It means I would have 2 contents policies running concurrently. Is it worth the risk for 10 days as I understand I could have trouble should I need to claim on contents?

For 10 days it is not going to be a problem.

Just remember to cancel any policy you do you need in good time.

The worst that could happen is that you claim within the 10 day window and you are dual insured. It's up to the insurer to sort out who pays for the claim.
