Led Light Problem

Just installed led down lighters on top landing which is 2 way switched .Whats happening is the LED's are staying on very dim when switched off from landing after being switched on from downstairs (there is 46v ac present). If I turn them off from down stairs then they will go off completely including using the upstairs switch.I have not touched any switch wiring and just removed the pendent and looped off the neutral and switch live upstairs.I'm usually quite good at electrical work but this has stumped me a bit. Also worked fine when used with normal bulb before.Any ideas what is wrong please

Sounds like a dodgy switch, possibly the landing one. The LED lighting is showing it where the previous bulbs weren't.
Try temporarily swapping the landing switch out with another one. If that cures it, buy a new switch.

As long as the downstairs switch is off the upstairs one will turn the lights on and off correctly without the LEDs staying on dim so upstairs switch is working OK

Update swoped one of the led's out for a normal gu10 bulb and the other leds do not stay on so is this a bulb problem

It's a very small leakage current - not enough to light a normal lamp, but enough to fire up the electronics in an LED.

It could be caused by damp in the electrics, or a faulty switch. It could be just because there's a long run of cabling down the stairwell. The conventional way of wiring stairwell lights has two switched live wires running next to each other for the whole length of the stairs. It's possible for a small current to leak from one to the other.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

I had a similar issue and running a separate feed, which luckily was possible, cured it. You get problems with leds that you don't with cfl's

Try using led bulbs in a 12v car circuit, it drives the ecu crazy:rotfl:
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

All these are possibilities but my bet is on the one highlighted.

Assuming that there is a 3 core plus earth cable running between the light switches, my first port of call would be to look at this 3 core cable and swap a pair of cores both ends so that the core which actually connects to the lights themselves is the one on its own on one side of the earth core. And make sure that the earth cores are connected through to your main earth.
You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'
