Hi
finally getting round to trying to set up a home network so that all devices can share as much as possible.
Want to be able to allow disabled son to be able to watch any of his films on as many devices as possible to allow a therapy goal called generalisation
so I have
a old Sony Viao PCV RS502 running Windows Xp as main desktop
Dell Inspiron 1750 running Windows 7
very old Dell Laptop ( wifes work laptop)
Acer Aspire 1 running Windows 7 starter
2 Apple ipads
Apple iphone 3GS
Apple iphone 4
ipod touch 4
2 PS3 s1 Xbox 360 with wireless capability
The current router is a Techicolor TG582n which is temperamental, I do have a replacement router a Thomson TG585 v8 which being a fatalist I have not tried to connect so far.
There is no massive amount of money to spend on other equipment ( most of these devices run my sons therapy programmes and apps)
I need a simple step by step guide /and or advice on how to set up using the existing equipmentso that movie files especially can be shared.
Thanks
Neil

The Xbox and window boxes will be easy to connect. What you need to do is decide which device is going to be your central storage space, will you use one of PC in which case you 'all need to leave it constantly. Or buy a nas, also depends on what kind of capacity.
There a million guides out the WWW and you tube on how to set up network sharing that all explain it a million times better than I can, have Google and choose who ever you feel is best for you0
