Have stayed at Premier Inn Chester South East and was very happy with it. Worth checking prices for July as last year we paid £29.00. It isn't in the centre but does have good transport links. Have a look on tripadvisor.

Not that I know of. I'm looking to book the 5th & 6th, I know theres racing on the weekend after. Is there something on that weekend that I'm missing?

Using the 2 nights for one option on this link,

the Chester South holiday Inn is coming up at £29.50 a night for those two nights - I'm not sure how many rooms you'll be able to book at that rate though. The hotel is not central, but very close to one of the park and ride areas into town.

Lived in Chester for about 15 years, but don't anymore. Don't know much about hotels its all changed now!

I would try Hoole B+B's. Just outside the city centre and there are tons of them so should be competitively priced.
