finding out car insurance brackets

Can anyone help? I am looking for a website which lists makes of cars and which car insurance bracket they fall into. I want to know this before I look at different cars as I dont want to buy one in too higher bracket!
Anyone any ideas of a site?

Also anyone know of a site which gives you an idea of the valuation of your car when put in part exchange?

Many thanks

    Do you mean what insurance group they are? You could try https://www.abi.org.uk/carinsurance/search.asp

    The only way to know how this translates directly into price would be to run a quote or two. If you want to know what tax bracket the car is in then I guess the DVLA's website will tell you.

    Sorry I didnt make it clear. I was meaning the insurance group like the numbers so my current car is in group 5

    I hope that now makes sense!

    Parkers - Gives you insurance groups for vehicles.

    They also have guide prices available for most models too, I have found them pretty accurate whenever I've used them in the past.

    Hope it helps.

    If you put them into that ABI website it should give you the groups.

    Bear in mind that there are now out of 50, rather than the previous 20.

    It will depend on all sorts of factors:-

    Age of driver;
    Whether male or female;
    Driving experience (any claims or convictions);
    Where the car is located (where you live);
    What will the vehicle be used for;
    Where is it garaged;
    Will there be other drivers.
    Do you have any no claims bonus;
    Will there be any other drivers;
    Do you want comprehensive or third party cover;
    What level of excess (first part of an accidental damage claim if you have comprehensive) do you want (in addition to any compulsory excess);
    Etc; etc.

    You can either google car insurance and put all your details into a website to get an idea (and just because the vehicle is group 6 with one insurer doesn't mean it will be a group 6 with all), or speak to a good broker.

    You could also give a bit more information on your age, type of car etc and people on here may give you a steer. Would also suggest you start a new thread as this one is really old and will deter others from responding.
