Lloyds TSB/Bank of Scotland AVAs

I notice on from the Lloyds TSB and Bank of Scotland websites that you can only apply directly for a Classic Account. If you want to have a Gold Account, Platinum Account, etc. you need to do it through online banking. Does this mean you can't do it in branch anymore? Is this related to some people being sold insurance they don't need? Just wondered if anyone had any thoughts.

There were changes to the rules of selling a package account. In order to ensure that they were complying with the new legislation they have removed the in branch process until the sale and information of an Ava complies with the new rules.. That was my understanding of it.0
